BLIND SPORTS

Recreation is a very important part of life for all people. Blind Sports Victoria (BSV) assists people who have low vision or no vision to take part in a wide variety of sports. Assistance can also be provided with finding volunteers.

BSV was established in 1977 and is the state parent sporting association currently representing a variety of sports.

BSV are members of the Australian Blind Sports Federation through which National and International competitions are organised. This enables
legally blind competitors to take part in State, National and International
events such as the Paralympics and World Championships.

Our objectives are to -
  Establish Blind Sports in Victoria on a
  firm financial and structural base.

  Develop competitive and recreational
  sporting opportunities for blind and
  vision impaired people.

  Increase sporting participation of
  vision impaired people in schools and
  the community.

  Increase community awareness of the
  capabilities of vision impaired
  sports people.
