Come and immerse yourself in nature on a BSRV and Parks Victoria volunteer-led sensory walk through the Morang Wetlands at Plenty Gorge Parklands.
This walk will guide you through the vibrant wetland ecosystem which supports a wide range of plant and animal life. Learn more about the wetlands through our friendly and knowledgeable volunteer guide whilst walking alongside kangaroos and wallabies that populate the area or listen to the song of the plethora of bird species that make the Morang Wetlands their home.
About the walk: This leisurely paced walk is approximately 2.5km and takes roughly 1.5 hour to complete. The path is mostly flat with some inclines/declines throughout. The terrain does include grassy areas that can be slippery/muddy if there has been rain, so make sure to wear appropriate footwear.
Accessibility: Please note that this track is not wheelchair accessible on wet days as the track can become difficult to manoeuvre.
When: Monday 19th June, 2023. Time: 11am to 12.30pm.
Where: Plenty Gorge Park, South Morang, VIC 3752.
Venue facilities: Toilets are located adjacent to the car park.
Meeting point: Please meet your volunteer guides at the Hawkstowe Recreational Reserve (NOT Hawkstowe picnic area) at Plenty Gorge Park and aim to be early as your guides will depart for the walk at 11am.
Transport option: You can meet Miriam, BSRV Program Manager, at Flinders Street Train Station at 9:35am to catch the Mernda Line train on Platform 1 to South Morang at 9:47am. This journey will take 56 minutes, arriving at 10:39am. From South Morang train station, we will jump in a taxi to Hawstowe Recreation Reserve which should take 10 minutes.
What to bring: Please bring a water bottle, optional light snacks for a picnic lunch, closed comfortable footwear and appropriate clothing for all weather conditions.
