Blind Sports & Recreation Victoria is seeking a friendly walking buddy to take a lady who is blind and uses a mobile walker, on slow walks in her local area of Thornbury.
This is an ongoing weekly one- hour commitment and you will need to be available on a weekday between 10:30am and 4pm. Help improve this lady's fitness and reduce her social isolation.
You will be part of the Walking with Willpower program, which aims to increase fitness, well-being and community involvement for adults who are blind or vision impaired. As a friendly, volunteer walking buddy you need to be more than 18 years of age, and be up-to-date with your Covid-19 vaccinations.
Recruitment involves an interview, police and referee checks and completion of short training on how to best assist a person who has vision loss.
