Meet Blind Sports and Recreation Victoria Ambassador, Tegan

Tegan believes in the importance of sport and recreation. She would very much like to develop Blind Tennis in her community and also look at opportunities within neighbouring towns,  including Albury/Wodonga. Tegan plays tennis with her family and really enjoys taking photographs. She discovered that by using certain technology and enlarging images, she is able to see the photos.

After becoming vision impaired, Tegan experienced being excluded from activities, and therefore is passionate about people, especially those in rural communities, having inclusive access to sport and recreation. She says: ‘Full access enables everyone an opportunity to enjoy life. We are a small community of just over a thousand people with a disability, so it is important that we all have access.'

Tegan works for the Rural City of Wangaratta Council as a Rural Access Officer and is living her values of creating an inclusive community.

Since losing her sight and becoming vision impaired she has used the Walt Disney quote, “if you can dream it, you can do it.”
