Connecting up for comfort and a chance to share…
Following is an email Blind Sports & Recreation Victoria received from the parent of a child involved in the road safety education awareness program.
“Thank you so much for the road safety session - both my daughter and I really enjoyed ourselves. I learnt a few new things and found it really well run and informative. You were a very good host introducing us to others and arranging name tags - small gestures which make a big difference when you don't know anyone there. We felt very welcome, even though it was our first event with Blind Sports.
It was a significant experience for me because it was the first time I have spoken to other parents who have a child with a vision impairment in such an open and supportive setting. I have really struggled personally with understanding my daughter's vision impairment and have been quite scared about it, so it was helpful for me to connect with other parents and lovely to see the kids having so much fun.
Once again, thank you so much for a great day”.
“I thought of Sandi as my grandmother and a dear friend.” Ghazala.
