BSRV President, Maurice Gleeson OAM - Award Finalist 2021

These awards are run by the Department of Health and Human Services and recognise excellence, leadership and achievement.
The Lifetime achievement honour roll recognises exceptional individuals who have made a significant contribution over the past 20 years and demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the rights, participation and inclusion of Victorians with disability.

Thanks to Maurice, blind sports are no longer played discretely - they involve inclusive, competitive and social participation.
It is Maurice’s unwavering drive to see people who are blind or have low vision live fulfilling, purposeful lives and having the same opportunities as sighted people, that makes him unique. Despite now being over 70 years of age, Maurice continues to advocate for the rights of people with vision loss and has improved their community participation, independence and confidence.

Congratulations to all the finalists and nominees.

Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on Thursday, 29 July 2021.
