BSRV, Lara Tennis Club and the Transition Tennis team hosted a wonderful Come and Try Blind/ Low Vision Tennis event on Sunday 12th October. Two Blind Tennis players Sarah and David offered coaching on the day. Nat and Travis from Leisure networks and Callum and Adam from Tennis Victoria all contributed to making the day a great success.
Participants included players across a wide range of ages and abilities and some were trying tennis for the very first time. Feedback from participants included enjoying meeting new people and getting more confident and skilled in playing the game. All participants said they would love to play Blind/Low vision tennis again.
Participants said:
"I had the best time. I met two new people and had some good chats and a good time."
"It was a pretty awesome day. There were 7 of us there. This meant we could get 1:1 support which was good."
"I felt proud of myself for being able to hit the ball over the net. From that session alone I improved a lot. David was awesome. He taught me the scoop shot."
"Just that one day and I got some confidence with it. I was hitting the ball most of the time. It was fun. We had a lot of laughs."
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the day including the State Trustees Australia Foundation which made the series of 'Come and Try Blind and Low Vision Tennis' events possible.
